About Papa Hemi's Hideaway :
Papa Hemi's Hideaway is an old-school 1940s log cabin roadhouse reborn with fresh local Idaho fare and a dedicated commitment to Farm-to-Table culinary style. From original mountain breakfasts and creative homemade comfort food (pies, burgers, BBQ, pulled pork nachos, buffalo burgers, Idaho trout fish 'n chips, etc) to cozy fireside rustic fine dining (prairie-fed local lamb, grass-fed Idaho beef, free range chicken, ruby red Idaho trout, fresh seafood and more), Papa Hemi's Hideaway offers exceptionally fresh and flavorful dining options across the spectrum.

Award-winning San Francisco trained chef proprietor Lynn Sheehan's enthusiasm for local farms and seasonal cuisine means that there's always something new and interesting on the menu. Our diners enjoy sampling dishes created entirely from Idaho product, full of the flavor of Idaho's lands and streams, and uniquely different from anywhere else in the world! While the winter menu features plenty of rich savory stews and braised dishes, the summer menu is full of smoky applewood grilled meats & fish, seasonal vegetables & fruits and ultra-fresh local micro-green salads. And autumn, of course, focuses on prairie fresh Idaho Lamb from the nationally renowned Lava Lake Ranch.

Pairing your dining experience with tasty beverages is no less important to us, or to you! Papa Hemi's Hideaway offers a unique chef-selected wine list with over 120 bottles and 40 wines-by-the-glass, including a fine selection of dessert wines. Microbrew drinkers will not be disappointed... Papa Hemi's offers 9 fresh local Idaho microbrews on tap every day, many of which are not available in the bottle or outside the state!

Historically, the 1940s log cabin restaurant is one of the oldest remaining log structures in the Wood River Valley, and was originally the main lodge of a family owned motor court cabin colony. Ernest "Papa" Hemingway, the legendary author, lived in these cabins for several years in the 1940s while working on his novels and hunting or fishing in local streams. In fact, Papa used to dress and cure his wild game in the family barn that was located directly behind the restaurant. For several decades, the lodge flower gardens won national awards and praise in AAA Guide Books. Today the gardens are in glorious bloom throughout the summer months, bordering our lush outdoor patio dining area with pristine views of Mt. Baldy and a blazing warm firepit.

Our Valley has always been blessed with talented independent artists. Papa Hemi's Hideaway supports local musicians by offering our guests the opportunity to enjoy music with their dining experience 3 nights a week: Wednesdays from 6-9pm focus on independent local singer/songwriters; Fridays and Saturdays feature talented duos and trios performing a wide range of music, from bluegrass and blues to jazz and indie folk. Call us anytime or visit the SunValleyOnline calendar to see who's playing!

Papa Hemi's Hideaway is family friendly, and the grassy fields adjacent to the restaurant are perfect summertime play areas. Especially during the indoor winter months, we ask parents to attend to their children so as to ensure a pleasant experience for all our guests. The music schedule is always an enriching child-friendly experience.

Private dining areas are available for those who seek a more intimate experience or wish to hold a private gathering. Log cabin winters are warmed by the dancing flames of our two stone fireplaces and cozy candlelight table settings.
